Paint Correction
Swirl marks, buffer trails, and fine scratches in your clear coat don't wash off — they're physical damage that scatters light and makes even clean paint look dull and tired. Paint correction uses machine polishing to safely remove a controlled amount of clear coat and level the surface, eliminating the scratches entirely. Reset Auto Details offers 1-step, 2-step, and 3-step correction depending on how much paint damage is present. The result is a deep, wet-look gloss that looks better than the day the car left the factory — and it's the required prep step before any ceramic coating.
1-step uses a single polish to remove light defects (swirls, water spots). 2-step compounds first then polishes — better for moderate scratches. 3-step cuts, compounds, then refines — for heavily defected paint. We inspect your paint first and recommend the right level.
It depends on scratch depth. If a scratch goes through the clear coat into the base coat, polishing can't fully remove it — but we can reduce its appearance significantly. Scratches you can feel with a fingernail are typically too deep for correction alone.
Paint correction permanently removes the defects — they don't come back. However, new swirls can form from improper washing. Following up with a ceramic coating locks in the result and protects the corrected surface for years.
No — decontamination and wash are always included as the first step of any correction service. Just make sure the car is accessible at your location.
